How To Add Agony Infusion Slot

Fractals and Agony Resistance

“Infusion slots” are where you add even more stats to your ascended gear and special bonuses such as agony resist to allow you to tackle higher level fractals or bonuses vs guards in WvW. The maximum amount of stats per infusion slot is 5 of any stat (power, precision, etc).

Fractals are mini dungeons accessible in Lion's Arch at the -Mist Portals-. You are given personal access to the Fractal Lobby after you've reached level 80. There are 100 levels of Fractals. The level of a Fractal correlates with it's difficulty. The higher the level the more difficult the Fractal will be.

Step 1: Choosing Difficulty
Show Spoiler
Once you’ve reached the Fractals of the Mists portal in Lion’s Arch you will be confronted with a level selection pop-up.
This selection screen allows you to chose which Fractal you’d like to attune the Fractal Lobby to before entering. This can also be changed once you enter the portal via a console to the north-west of the lobby, indicated by an orange cog symbol..
There are a few notable features to be found on this screen:
  • Tier Selection
    • Fractals are divided into four tiers; Initiate, Adept, Expert, Master.
    • These tiers are indicative of substantial changes in difficulty level, item drop rate, and specific fractal mechanics.
    • This means higher tiers will provide better rewards but also additional challenges.
    '
  • Suggested Agony Resistance
    • The selection screen offers a number of suggested Agony Resistance per Fractal, which can be seen in the bottom portion of the pop-up once a Fractal has been clicked on.
    • You can easily see which Fractals you do not have enough Agony Resistance for by noting the coloring of their level.
    • These colors scale from white to red with white indicating enough Agony Resistance, and red indicating that the Agony debuff will instantly defeat you.
    '
  • Daily Indicators
    • A random selection of fractals are chosen each day as “Dailies” which give additional rewards for their completion.
    • These fractals are indicated with a round, purple “Fractal Symbol” next to them in on this selection screen.

Step 2: Unlocking Fractals
Show Spoiler

Upon first entering The Fractals of the Mists you may notice that you do not have access to all of the Fractals from the beginning. The Fractals you are able to select is capped at the highest personal fractal level out of all the members in your party.
The Fractals you can access alone is indicated under the “Personal Fractal Level” section of the Fractal selection screen.
This personal level is raised by one each time you complete a Fractal equal to or greater than your personal level.

Step 3: Completing Dailies
Show Spoiler
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Fractals_of_the_Mists#Daily_Fractals

Daily Fractals come in two types, “Tier” and “Recommend”. These fractals offer additional rewards for completing them and therefore should be focused on.
Tier Dailies
  • Each day there will be a specific set of three fractals indicated as dailies. Each set is offered in each tier of fractals for a total of twelve dailies.
  • Completing a daily fractal in a specific tier will award you it’s Fractal Chest as well as the chests for all tiers beneath it.
    • i.e. Completing “Daily Tier 4 Snowblind” will award you with the Tier 1, 2, 3, and 4 Fractal Chests.
  • The rewards in these chests are guaranteed Resonating Slivers, +1 Agony Infusions, Fractal Encryption Keys, and a Pristine Fractal Relic as well as chances for other drops such as Ascended crafting materials and Ascended Chests.
    • Higher tier chests offer both higher drop rates and larger loot tables.

Recommended Dailies
  • Each day a Fractal from each tier, excluding Master, is chosen as a Daily Recommended.
  • Accessing these Fractals in the Expert and Adept tiers requires the “Follows Advice” mastery added with Heart of Thorns.
  • Completing a Recommended Daily Fractal will award you with a Fractal Research Chest containing A Pristine Fractal Relic, +1 Agony Infusions, Mists Potions, Fractal Encryptions, and A Fractal Research Page.

Step 4: Mechanics
Show Spoiler
Fractals are essentially mini-dungeons in which each Fractal has it’s own story and environment. There are seventeen individual Fractal locations and each of these Fractals will have it’s own mechanics and strategies for completing it effectively.
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Fractals_of_the_Mists#Locations
While you will have to learn the strategies for each of these locations individually there are a few mechanics that are universal to all fractals.
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Agony
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Fractals_of_the_Mists#Mistlock_Instability
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mistlock_Singularity
  • Agony
    • Agony is a unique debuff that beings appearing in Fractal level 20. It removes a percentage of your character’s total health based on the level of the fractal and the amount of Agony Resistance you have equipped.
    • This debuff is not affected by condition removal and can only be mitigated using Agony Resistance.
    • Agony is inflicted on your character by both enemy attacks and certain unavoidable environmental triggers.
      • Environmentally triggered Agony is commonly referred to as a “check”, indicating that the level itself is “checking” to see if you having the required Agony Resistance.
    '
  • Instabilities
    • Mistlock Instabilities are special modifiers that begin to appear at Fractal level 26.
    • There are eight separate Instabilities and they are tied to specific Fractal difficulty levels. They are called; “No Pain, No Gain”, “Last Laugh”, “Afflicted”, “Social Awkwardness”, “Toxic Trail”, “Flux Bomb”, “Adrenaline Rush”, and “Mists Convergence”.
    • At level 26 there is one Instability active, then at 51 two Instabilities are active, and finally at level 77 three Mistlock Instabilities will be active at once.
    • Certain Instabilities will force your party to modify their usual strategy for a particular Fractal, so paying attention to which Instabilities are active is vital.
    '
  • Sigularities
    • Mistlock Singularities are interactable objects that will provide your character with a buff called “Rigorous Certainty” as well as repair all of your gear.
    • Rigorous Certainty provides an extra +5 Agony Resistance as well as a special effect that will restore 25% of your total health next time it reaches zero.
Gearing For Fractals
In order to successfully complete Fractals higher than level 20 you will require gear that contains Infusion Slots where you can then place Agony Resistance Infusions to counter the effects of inflicted Agony.
The simplest to acquire of the gear with Infusion Slots is Ascended Equipment.

Step 1: Picking a Build

http://qtfy.eu/builds
https://snowcrows.com/builds/
Before you create an entire ascended set it’s important to decide which build you’d like to use while in fractals as this will determine the stat prefixes you select for your equipment.
Most damage oriented raid builds will work just as well in Fractals, however, you should note that Fractals are much more flexible than raids and often can make use of a variety of utility skills.
Once you have selected which class and build you’d like to take, you can then move onto getting your gear.

Step 2: Ascended Armor
Show Spoiler
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ascended_crafting#Ascended_armor
As with ascended armor, it is most likely you will be crafting your weapons.
This will require either an lvl 500 Weaponsmith, Huntsman, or Artificer. These are not linked to certain classes and you may need more than one to get all of your required weapons. For cost effective guides on leveling these, I recommend http://gw2crafts.net/.
Once you have reached lvl 450 in your chosen discipline, you can start crafting the related time gated materials:
These are the foundation of all ascended crafting, and can only be crafted once a day. Making sure to craft these items daily will help ensure you have enough when you go to craft your weapons.
Before you begin, you will require these recipes:
  • Ascended Insignia Recipe
    • Purchased from a Master Craftsman (Master Armorsmith, Master Leatherworker, Master Tailor) for 21, 000 Karma.
  • Ascended Armor Piece Recipe
    • Purchased from a Master Craftsman or Laurel vendor for 3G and 5 Laurels.
*Note: Ascended Insignia Recipes can also be found randomly at the -Guild Trader-.
Once you have your recipes you can begin crafting your equipment.
Each piece will require:
  • Ascended Insignia
    • IMPORTANT: If your selected stat calls for “Jeweled Damask Patches” you should make a different set of gear with different stats that uses regular “Damask Patches” (I recommend -Forgemaster’s-). Once you have completed your piece you can stat swap it in the Mystic Forge.
  • Lesser Vision Crystal/Vision Crystal
    • Made of Dragonite Ingots, Empyreal Stars, Bloodstone Bricks, and an Augur’s Stone.
    • Lesser Vision Crystals in every piece except the Chest, where you will use a regular Vision Crystal.
  • Two Components
    • Padding, straps, lining, panels, casing, etc.
*Note: Be sure to salvage high level exotic gear for-Globs of Dark Matter-which you will need to craft ascended insignia and inscriptions.
To change the stats of an ascended armor piece you will need:

  • The Original Armor Piece
  • 1 Gossamer Insignia (of the desired stats)
  • 5 Globs of Ectoplasm

Step 6: Agony Resistance
Show Spoiler

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Agony_Resistance
The maximum amount of Agony Resistance you will require in any fractal is 150.
The most efficient way of reaching this number is to figure out the minimum amount of Agony Resistance you require in each of your available Infusion Slots.
Assuming you have full ascended armor, weapons, and trinkets, you will have 17 infusion slots where you can place Agony Resistance Infusions.
17 Slots
[3] +8 Agony Infusions (24 AR)
[14] +9 Agony Infusions (126 AR)
Additional Weapon(s): [1] +8 Agony Infusion per Weapon. ~3G per weapon
Cost: ~90G (assuming all +1 Agony Infusions were purchased from the Trade Post)
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Agony_Resistance#Cost_efficient_methods
Agony Resistance Infusions can be obtained by either purchasing them from INFUZ-5959 in the Fractal Lobby or by crafting them with the Artificing discipline at level 100.
The most cost effective way to do this would be to purchase available infusions (+9s) from INFUZ-5959, and then craft the unavailable ones (+8s).
Note: Infusions that are unavailable for immediate purchase from INFUZ-5959 are still available if you use him to deconstruct higher level infusions. This is slightly more expensive than crafting them yourself.
Making Money with Fractals
Your main source of Fractal income will come from the contents of Daily Chests and Fractal Encryption boxes obtained through the completion of any Fractal.
The profit gained from opening these can be maximized by obtaining certain masteries.
Show Spoiler
Step 1: Recursive Resourcing
Show Spoiler

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Central_Tyria_mastery_tracks#Fractal_Attunement
‘Recursive Resourcing’ is a central tyria mastery requiring 6 total mastery points to unlock. All masteries require you to own the Heart of Thorns expansion pack
This mastery will increase the value of the junk items found in your Daily Chests and Fractal Encryptions, as well as improving key and agony infusion drops. You will also gain the ‘Follows Advice’ and ‘Agony Channeler’ masteries on the way to unlocking it which will provide additional useful bonuses such as unlocking certain daily fractals and letting you access vendor tabs.

Step 2: Loot!
Show Spoiler
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Fractals_of_the_Mists#Rewards
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Fractals_of_the_Mists#Daily_Fractals
As stated previously, most of the money made in fractals is obtained from Daily Fractal Chests and Fractal Encryptions. These and the Encryption Keys are obtained by completing Fractals.
Daily Fractal Chests
  • These come in Initiate, Adept, Expert and Master varieties and are rewarded upon the completion of a Daily Tier Fractal.

Fractal Encryption Keys
  • These are found in each Daily Fractal Chest (Initiate’s to Master’s).

Fractal Encryptions
  • You are rewarded at least one for the completion of any Fractal.

In order to obtain about an even number of keys and chests you should do just the Daily Tier Fractals, as each fractal will drop a few Encryptions, and each Daily Chest will drop a key.

How To Add Agony Infusion Slot Machine

Note: If you find you have more Encryptions than Keys, you can purchase up to 30 additional keys a day for a discounted price from BUY-4373 in the Mistlock Observatory.

How To Add Agony Infusion Slots

Inside the Daily Fractal Chests you may find:
  • Junk Loot.
    • Several kinds of Alchemical Precipitates. These should be sold straight to a vendor. ‘Recursive Resourcing’ will make these worth more.
  • Agony Infusions.
    • Mostly +1s, but also +3s, +5s, +7s, and +9s. These can be sold on the Trade Post or kept depending on whether you can to increase your Agony Resistance or not. High level infusions are worth good money.
  • Stabilizing Matrices.
    • Used in recipes and as currency, but also worth 30S each, which stacks up fast.
  • Mystic Coins.
    • Usually worth over 1G on the Trade Post and decently hard to come by.
  • Ascended Crafting Materials.
    • Deldrimor, Elonian Leather, Damask and Spiritwood. All very useful and worth a lot of gold.
  • Ascended Armor & Weapon Boxes.
    • While these cannot be sold, they do mitigate the cost of crafting them. (Though they can be salvaged and some of their components sold if you have no need for them.)

Inside of the Fractal Encryptions you may find:
  • Junk Loot.
    • Manuscripts, Postulates, Proofs, and Treatises. These should be sold straight to a vendor. ‘Recursive Resourcing’ will make these worth more.
  • +1 Agony Infusions.
    • These can be sold on the Trade Post or kept if you plan to add more Agony Resistance to one of your characters. These also sell for a decent price and tend to stack up quickly.
  • Tier 5 Fine Materials.
    • Such as Intricate Totems and Large Bones. These can be kept or sold on the Trade Post depending on your needs. I tend to wait until I get a stack, then sell half.
  • Rare Gear.
    • Which can be sold or salvaged for Ectoplasm.

Note: This list does not include everything, just things used to reliably make money.
With all of these different drops, you should make at least 10G a Tier 4 Daily Fractal run. With a good group this can be completed in under an hour, making it good money for the time spent.
That’s All Folks!

A guide to obtaining the new ascended amulets and utility infusions introduced with the Flame and Frost Prelude patch.

Purchase

  • All of the ascended amulets, rings, and infusions can be purchased from the Laurel Merchant near the WvW gates in Lion’s Arch and also at major cities (look for the laurel symbol on maps).

Ascended Amulet

  • All of these Ascended amulets cost 30 laurels each, which are obtained from the daily and monthly achievements. Keep in mind that some amulets have 4 stat combinations and there are 3 items with identical stats except difference in the type of infusion slot (offensive, defensive, utility)

Utility Infusions

These utility infusions only go on ascended amulets currently as these are the only type of ascended gear with utility infusions.

  • Glided Infusion: +20% gold from monsters – 20 laurels
  • Magical Infusion: +20% Magic Find – 20 laurels
  • Experience Infusion: +20% experience from kills – 10 laurels
  • Karmic Infusion: +15% karma – 10 laurels

Defensive/Offensive Infusions

These infusions can be brought for 5 laurels off the laurel merchant but do not come with any agony resist. Defensive/offensive infusions with agony resist are only crafted or brought from the FOTM dungeon vendor.
