Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Virginia is an affiliate of the national organization and has been providing high-quality mentoring services to the Central Virginia area since 1972. Children that have been served through one of our mentoring programs are better off academically, socially and wi. Boat Week is a week-long boating celebration along the Emerald Coast, that rounds out with The Emerald Coast Poker Run. These events are orchestrated by the Emerald Coast Foundation, an organization that supports children’s charities and youth organizations in Okaloosa County.

A poker run will be held Dec. 9 in Virginia Beach to benefit John Massey, WAVY Chopper 10 pilot who is in need of a liver transplant.

The event will begin at Boneshakers Sports Bar and Grill, 1297 General Booth Blvd. Registration is from 11 a.m. to noon, with the first bike out at noon.

Cost is $15 per bike, with a $5 rider fee. A bike is not needed to participate — you can walk, ride your bicycle or skateboard or drive a car.

The first stop is Parlay’s from noon to 12:45; the second stop is Lendy’s from 12:45 to 1:30; third stop is Clutch from 1:30 to 2:15; fourth stop is Jager’s from 2:15 to 3; be back at Boneshakers by 4 to turn in your poker hand.

There will be an auction and parking lot party at Boneshakers until 6 p.m.
